Patients usually have one initial consultation at which a full medical history is taken, and a thorough examination of your legs is performed and documented.
Duplex scans are necessary to determine the cause of the varicose veins (to ensure as far as possible that they do not return after treatment) and to see whether you are suitable for VNUS radiofrequency ablation.
Most patients are able to return home the same day, thereby keeping "hotel costs" of the hospital to a minimum. You are usually seen two weeks after your procedure for a follow-up consultation, to ensure that you are happy with the result.

Note: These prices are for VNUS treatment of one leg in someone who has had no previous varicose vein surgery. They exclude the anaesthetist's fee (if you need a general anaesthetic).
Costs for scans or procedures on both legs (done at the same time) are generally 30% higher.
